I still plan on trying to reach my $10,000 goal so if your keen to support a good cause your donation is greatly appreciated, even a few dollars helps :)

http://www.triplem.com.au/sydney/shows/grill-team/photos/gus-tour-photos

is missing all the wonderful people I met throughout my journey of my One month living homeless. I will definately be keeping in contact with many of them, visiting and offering assistance whenever and wherever I can
is feeling happy to be home to my safe cosy little house but feeling a little lost in what to do with myself

Check out the pics from my sleepout with Gus Worland from Tripple M on my 2nd last night of my One month homeless
off to my nice warm bed with a few DVD's we go for the rest of the weekend :)
after living One month homeless I have survived the streets and am now home sweet home
WOW the time has come for my last night living One month homeless. After having about 8 hours sleep over the last 3 days and averaging about 1 to 6 hours broken sleep each night always keeping 1 eye open I am feeling pretty keen to get home tomorrow for a big sleep in my nice cosy bed
after having another hour or so nap at the Tripple M studio this morning & after my eggs and mushrooms on toast they brought me which I was loving, I am now in Manly checking out the drop in centre over this way and handing out my flyers, lets see what kind of response I get over this way
was in tears of joy this morning listening to Tripple M plug my campaign, i'm so happy with how the month has gone, it feels extremely good knowing that my time on the streets has helped spread awareness and changed mine and other people's lives
felt pretty special last night with Tripple M, Cleo magazine and a body guard
With Gus from Tripple M came a body guard, lovely guy who had worked with some massive names. It was nice to feel a bit safer sleeping during the night while he sat up on the lookout escorting me to the toilet (bush) during the night
Gen from Cleo magazine also came out last night till 1am, lovely girl who was very interested in my story and who seemed to get a bit more of an insight into homelessness just from being out for a few hours. Keep a look out for the next issue coming out at the end of October

After getting a little taste of the people out there and sleeping in the cold for a night Gus is keen to get more involved in helping people living homeless

Gus Worland from Tripple M's The Grill Team broadcasted from 6am to 9am this morning chatting about my One month homeless, he said he was feeling a little apprehensive about being around homeless people at first but said afterwards he was very glad he got involved and met some great people, hearing stories from people ...about their lives from which led them to being on the streets.

was woken up during my whole 1 hour sleep last night in a coughing fit with something that had crawled in my mouth, it feels horrible, after trying to make it come up that didn't work so I went to the doctor but unfortunately they couldn't see anything, it must have scratched my throat, ah it feels horrible, I have a dead bug inside me :(

had a good night with Gus and Lee from Tripple M last night hanging around St Mary's Cathedral at the food vans they interviewing a few people including myself then off to camp we went in Hyde park

has just been told I smell, my friend is moving away from me, haha, got to laugh about it. Off to find a shower we go :)
http://www.everydayhero.com.au/abigail_moir
Please help sponsor my One month homeless campaign
Wayside Chapel did an experiment sending clients into Centrelink in their everyday clothing then sent the same people back in wearing a suit, the difference in how they were treated was astonishing
People living rough or with hard lives don't have to be categorised as smelly and dirty. There are plenty of people wandering the world in suits who face the same problems of addiction and homelessness but don't have to put up with the ridicule of being judged all because of what they wear and how they look
feels very annoyed at the way people look down at others living a disadvantaged life, isn't living homeless or with addiction problems hard enough without passers by turning their noses up at you, we are all humans.
is looking forward to Tripple M and Cleo magazine coming out tonight to camp out with me, thanks Gus and Gen for helping spread awareness through my campaign about homelessness
was happy with my interview with SeaFM 101.3 this morning with Patty and Ceil
www.thewaysidechapel.com
stopped in at Wayside Chapel this morning, had a great chat with some of the staff, they were very interested in my campaign & are supporting it by writing up a story on their website, I will also be filming an interview with them next week. In the past year alone Wayside has provided, amongst other services, 8275 meal...s, 4370 changes of clothing, 2120 counseling sessions & over 1790 referrals to services & agencies
is sick of using public toilets and is so keen for a nice hot shower
it was very depressing seeing over 100 people sleeping on the streets around Kings Cross and Wooloomooloo last night, this is only the people I saw whilst passing through looking for camp, there would be many many more having to rough it like this each night, a very sad scene

camped out on a roof top in Wooloomooloo last night for a cold windy night. Had a crappy broken sleep and up at sunrise to be kicked out from security warning he'd call the police next time
spent last night at Rough Edges cafe in Darlinghurst who offer food and drinks and a warm place to hang out a few nights of the week for people in need. They run solely on people volunteering, it was great meeting a few locals and being in a safe warm place for a few hours

spent the morning in Newtown park waiting for lunch to start at 1pm at the drop in centre. Each passer by starring at me and my friend who were looking pretty homeless, wasn't a very nice feeling being looked down on which I have felt a lot this month. I was feeling pretty hungry having to wait till 1pm for my 1st meal... of the day from being up so early but thouroughly enjoyed it and met some lovely people over lunch

picked up a $1 hot chocolate from 7eleven first thing this morning, was just falling back asleep in the park when this massive dog comes jumping on us running away with my friends sock and knocking over my nice hot chocolate, not a happy camper
spent last night sleeping in the kids playground in Newtown in the sandpit. Slightly more comfy than some places i've spent my nights but super cold. Probably got a couple of hours sleep waking up at every noise, wandering if the drunk people yelling down the road would come bother me and my friend Mani who volunteered to camp out with me
I look around and everything costs money. When something is actually free it doesn't seem right, it shouldn't be this way. My friend did a BBQ with free sausage sandwiches and people just couldn't understand that he just wanted to do something nice for his community
I kind of understand why people drink, take drugs and steal who are living on the streets. I don't condone any of these things but there needs to be more things to do and places to go for people living homeless
snuck in to the movies last night to kill some time and be somewhere warm, probably not the best thing to do but when you have no money and no where to go you try to keep yourself entertained, there is not much support or places to go for people living homeless during the evening and on the weekends
was planning on sleeping out in the streets of Gosford last night but felt a bad vibe and was warned by a few other people at the Coast shelter that it was a dangerous place so decided to trust my instincts and head back to Sydney where I felt a little more comfortable
met Linden a man from Gosford who previously lived on the streets for 12 years, he said the worst thing being homeless was being lonely and cold. He had been a heroin addict for over 20 years, lovely guy who had lost his family and everything because of drugs. He says he just can't stop thinking about it. When asked if... he could have anything in the world to help him get through life he just wants a nice lady
Spent the day at the Coast Shelter in Gosford yesterday listening to a couple swearing and yelling at their little kids who live homeless, the youngest child about 4 years old. The police had been on to them earlier in the day for waving a macheti around and disturbing the whole caravan park. I just wanted to hug the l...ittle kiddies poor darlings, this is 1 family of many living like this
‎3 nights to go WAHOO, am looking forward to my nice warm bed and seeing my little chocolate bunny
has a sore throat, head ache and runny nose, not so nice when you have to sleep on the streets in the cold
SeaFM 101.3 changed to tomorrow morning at 7:40am. listen out for me chatting with Patty and Ceil
Just had a chat with Gus and the boys from The Breakfast Show on Tripple M which will go live on air tomorrow morning, Gus will be sleeping out with me on Thursday night and going live on air Friday for my last day on the streets

great news for Matthew who lives in Byron Bay who I have recently mentioned now has a job at the chicken abattoir in Byron starting this week, he is a very happy man, good on him, he now hopes to find a place to rent out and get back on his feet
will be live on air on SeaFM 101.3 tomorrow morning at 8am. listen out for me chatting with Patty and Ceil

was feeling pretty cold on the concrete last night out in Kariong on the Central Coast. Off to the Coast shelter now for some lunch and to meet the local people living homeless, Coast Shelter provides accommodation to approximately 110 homeless men, women and children each night and also coordinates the provision of ov...er 200 meals each day at the Donnison Street Community Centre.

slept out at the beach the other night until in started raining, it was freezing cold and super windy, didn't get any sleep till the early hours until I went to my new friend Andrew Rix campervan which he lives in, luckily he was around the corner & let me crash in his van. He also shared his canned soup with me the other day also was great company
thank to all the Byron Bay peeps that I met at the Salvation Army cottage you were so welcoming and thankyou Raoul Cowan for having me camp out at the swamp in your tent in the bush, was great to see how you guys live, your all so lovely people and hope to see you all again soon :)
had a good evening going for a bicycle ride with Matthew to the christian church just out of Byron Bay. Had an awsome feed there on Sunday night, best meal i'd had in awhile
i'll be going live on air on Tripple M tomorrow to chat about my One month homeless
just got an email from Cleo magazine who are going to do a 2 page article on my One month homeless and possibly sleepout for a night with me during my last week homeless, super stoked :)

Thursday, August 19, 2010

spent the day at the Salvation Army Cottage hanging out with other people living homeless, they have all been super lovely and took me to their camp to hang out which was cool to see
‎3 weeks homeless tomorrow
Has been in contact with Jake Cassar who recently spent 1 week sleeping on the streets. Mr Cassar and fellow social activist Ian sutton intend to devote one night every week to the homeless, I hope to meet up with them on my travels back to Sydney
ah felt so much better yesterday after a nice shower, thankyou to the Valley swimming pool for letting me have a free shower

after being in Brisbane for a couple of days not knowing my way around or anyone and feeling pretty crappy and homeless I decided to leave and make my way back to Sydney, stopping back in Byron for a couple of days
had a better nights sleep on my friends verandah last night

loves this beautiful warmer weather ah it makes it so much easier sleeping out, I was actually feeling a bit too toasty last night with all my layers
from the food van Mama Rene's last night in Brisbane there was probably over 100 people of all ages lining up to get food, I was amazed at how much food they gave out it was great, cereal, fruit, pasta, veges, sandwiches. Everyone got bags and bags of stuff. Places like these help so much with people living homeless
was very annoyed at this young drunk guy at 4:30am this morning who would just not go away and talking crap, I was was super grumpy and just wanted to try get some more sleep
feeling pretty tired after a couple of hours sleep, luckily I don't have to go to work. With half the homeless population being under 25 a big percentage of them would be meant to be going to school, feeling sleep deprived after not having a safe place to sleep each night would definately be very hard
don't really understand why its ok for some people to snooze on a picnic rug in the park but then not for others it's not ok on the park bench
had a shitty sleep on the bench at Central station in Brisbane, drifting in and out of sleep for a couple of hours then residing to a park bench when the sun came up then to be kicked out as apparently your not allowed to sleep in the park
thankyou to Jace who I met at the food van in Brisbane who shouted me a nice hot cup of tea. Jace has been homeless since earlier in the year and stays at the Pindari men's hostel, he told me about all the places to go to eat for free, lovely chap he was
was bummed I missed the hot food at the food van last night, but luckily got some sandwiches and muesli bars to keep me going
Thankyou to Freyja Garbett and Jason Cunneen for letting me crash a couple of nights at their pad whilst in Byron, it was so good to have a nice safe place to sleep and a hot shower. You guys rock, it was so much fun up there, you guys made it all the more easy for my One month homeless

This is Harry's home who I met in Byron Bay at the Salvation Army cottage. He's in his sixties, surfs everyday and lives here on the main beach in Byron. Such a cool dude, had loads of amazing stories to tell. He say's he loves it here and chooses to live homeless, he has been there since earlier on in the year. Unfort...unately I didn't get around to film him but hope to go back and find him again to get on film
is feeling pretty lost in Brissy, don't know the place at all. Off to find the food vans for tea we go
so with no money I will set off to do some window cleaning or any other work I can find in Brisbane starting tomorrow, hopefully i'll be successful I need to get home somehow
spent the last of my money over the weekend, thankyou to a few new friends I made in Byron Drew Smith and Lauren Perry you were so lovely, really appreciate it, had loads of fun with you guys your awsome
Think i've found camp for tonight on a roof top over looking the city, will be cold but looks like a safe area
here we are in Brisbane now, feeling tired and sick of carrying all my stuff with me and my clothes are smelly

Saturday, August 14, 2010

is looking forward with carrying on with my adventure leaving Byron Bay to go to Brisbane tomorrow heading to the big city which i'm unfamiliar with and with nobody I know around the place, the adventure never stops
being hungover, homeless and moneyless is so not cool, thankfully its a sunny day in Byron with the beach looking pretty good for a nap, it would make it pretty tough if it were raining
Living without a safe place to go to each night is hard enough let
alone others thinking that because of this we can't enjoy things like
using a computer or eating out at a restaurant. People living homeless
are not monsters, we are all human beings
just because someone is living homeless it doesn't mean you can't be happy or have fun. There has been a bit of feedback with people saying that some of the things that I have been doing, homeless people don't do.
loves the fact Adam Peacock has started doing some volunteer work for a homeless shelter, he says I inspired him :) super stoked. I'm, so glad my One month homeless is helping spread awareness. This is a great thing to do, it's a great feeling knowing you are helping others, yay for Adam
after meeting a group of people and telling my story of my One month homeless they asked if I wanted anything, there was nothing I could think of that I wanted, just their company was all I needed as it gets quite lonely on your own on the streets. In the end they did shout me a beer which was awsome :)

Friday, August 13, 2010

in saying that though that is only part of the homeless population choosing to live this way, a huge percentage of people do not want a life of sleeping out on the streets living the unknown without a safe place to live
I think it's great there's people around living how they want to live not how they should apparently live
has met many people in Byron who are happy living homeless either in the bush or on the beach. Some of the reasons being the freedom they have, not feeling trapped in a box and in the same daily routine of working a 9 to 5 job. I'm starting to totally understand why, humans didn't used to live like this, this life we'r...e supposed to live has been created by people for what?
hung out all day at The Salvation Army cottage for the last time as i'll be leaving Byron very soon. Everyone has been super lovely and I hope to see all of you again. The cottage is a safe place which has been like a home to me since I arrived only a few days ago, i'm very grateful for the good company, cups of tea, d...elicious food and hot showers. I will definately pop back in next time i'm Byron way
loved Christo Warner showing off his poetry last night on Byron's main beach, it was an amazing animated kind of poetry. Ah you made my night your awsome and Happy Birthday again for yesterday, hope to see you around again :)
did some filming today with a few people I met from the Salvation Army drop in centre, this will be going towards a documentary I hope to make after my One month homeless
said goodbye to Matthew who has been great to me since coming to Byron, he is off to Brisbane this evening in hope to see his kids, sort out a few things and then head to Sydney to start over and look for work and get off the streets. good on you

Thursday, August 12, 2010

is turning into a tree hugging hippie, ah i'm discovering a totally different way of life

Wednesday, August 11, 2010

last day in Byron, Brisbane tomorrow. Off to the drop in centre for Breakfast then to the Community centre for some Hare Krishna for lunch followed by a nap on the beach then to search for tonights camp :)
when someone thanks you for helping them make a change in their life it's a wonderful feeling. To me it seemed like nothing but for Matthew hopefully it will be a step forward for him to get a job and get off the streets, things like this make what i'm doing so much easier, if that is the only thing I achieve from my O...ne month homeless i'd be super happy just with that
‎2 weeks homeless tommorow, yay so stoked i've made it this far
ended the nice evening of great company and good food with a shitty sleep in a toilet, feeling scared and cold. Ah thankyou for the sun and the beach, makes everything feel good again
Met Harry yesterday who had some amazing life stories to tell, he's got an awsome home set up in the sand dunes in the centre of Byron Bay's main beach. He seems happy living homeless waking up on the beach going surfing every day.
Had a lovely evening in Byron with my new friend Matthew and Harry enjoying a good hamburger on the beach BBQ's, it's so good to see the simplest things in life make someone so happy

Tuesday, August 10, 2010

feels pretty home sick, ah it's a tough, cold, lonely life on the streets. I just want my darling little Cocoa
what do you do when you have no money and no place to live??
Arrived in Byron Bay in the wee hours of the morning after a long train ride. Thinking it would be nice and sunny but it's pouring with rain. What is a homeless person to do in this case, no home and in a strange place. With 4 hours to kill until the Community Centre opens. Thankfully there was Matthew a homeless man also waiting, he was super lovely, fingers crossed he gets this job to get off the streets.
Thanks to the lovely Tyler Pribramsky and his neighbours and flatmates for offering me beer, food and a cosy place to crash the other night in Newcastle, really appreciated it. Very random night, wasn't expecting it at all after just asking for directions :)

Is the 2nd top fundraiser for the Winter Sleepout appeal, help us get to the number One spot by donating now www.everydayhero.com.au/abigail_moir

Thankyou to my friend Mani who camped out with me last night. It was a very long bitter cold restless night woken by a possum scrounging around us

Thankyou to the very kind man who donated $20 to The Big Issue, ah you made my night

I have met some of the nicest, caring people with the biggest hearts throughout my ordeal which has made my experience all the worth while.
Also in the last week I have been looked down on, told to get a job and have been called a junkie. It's amazing how some people can be so judge mental and want to put you into a bo...x with a label
Thankyou to Exodus who have provided me with a nice hot meal, The Salvation Army for street connect internet access, clothing and blankets and all the other churches and help for people out there living like this, I don't know where we'd be with out you.

The past 8 days I have been wearing the same clothes day in day out, sitting now in 3 pairs of pants to try keep as warm as possible. I have had no make up, moisturiser, clean clothing or money and surviving on very basic meals with not knowing when my next shower will come. Saying that I have very rarely complained kn...owing there are thousands of people having to do this every night.
It is now day 8, I have survived the 1st week living on the streets. Today I will start heading North with my 1st stop being Newcastle. After a busy week working hard washing car windows, shop fronts and selling The Big Issue I have earned enough money for my travel with a little left over for a couple of nights accomodation if needed.
Is very excited Tripple M called yesterday who are getting on board to help promote my One month homeless campaign, Gus Worland from The breakfast show will be sleeping out with me on Tuesday 24th August recording the whole night. Stay tuned to hear me live on air on my last day on the streets on Friday 27th with updat...es throughout the week promoting my One month homeless. Thankyou Tripple M :)
Thanks to my lovely friend Sandy Shop for letting me crash at her pad to get a good nights sleep after 5 days of cold, sleepless, lonely nights.
After a 14hr sleep i'm ready to hit the streets again. Lucky for me I have people around me to lend a hand, in a lot of case's many people living homeless do not have this saf...ety net
Many people are hungry not for bread only, but they are hungry for.. love. Many people are not only naked for want of a piece of cloth, but they are naked for human dignity. Homelessness is not only not having a home made of bricks, but homelessness is being rejected, unwanted, unloved, uncared for. - Mother Teresa

Tuesday, August 3, 2010

enjoyed a nice BBQ at the Bondi Pavillion put on by The Roosters and Mission Australia for National Homeless Person Awareness Week
is becoming dillusional from being so exhausted from 5 nights of about 3hrs of crappy sleep each night

Sunday, August 1, 2010

Day 4 into my One month homeless. first shower and change of clothes today so far, thankyou to The Station drop in centre in CBD, ah i'm so grateful.
So far i've had some wonderful, interesting, tiring, scary and a million other emotions flow throughout the last few days. I think i've learnt alot already and think this time will be a life changing experience. I never thought finding a toliet block that you could lock to sleep in would feel like winning the lotto with a view outside of the Harbour Bridge :) It's a terrifying thing waking up at every tiny noise knowing how vunerable you are and not knowing if you are safe. Thinking about how many people have to do this each night is devastating. Thankyou Timothy Llewellyn for camping out on Saturday night, we had a pretty uncomfortable sleep behind St Mary's Cathedral but had alot fun and very much appreciated having someone with me which many people do not have. Thankyou John Grant Harvey who has now been out with me for a couple of days who also did a similar campaign earlier in the year in Melbourne, 30Days homeless, he has been great and taught me loads, an amazing and inspirational person.
Tried some car window washing yesterday made a few dollars and then some shop windows which seemed to be a bit more profitable. It's been a very busy time walking nearly 20km's each day to find my next meal and looking for a safe place to camp out each night. I'm definately not regretting doing this and think I will gain a lot whilst also learning about myself and the world. In saying that it has been pretty tough physically and mentally. By the end of this month I will be very happy knowing that I have contributed into this unfortunate epidemic that happens everyday with people all around the world.
Anways better get back out of the lovely Crown St library and plan where dinner will come from :)
